Eating out and still losing weight

Well, I messed up horribly, but it tasted so good. I had a gourmet vegetarian pizza at Round Table. Oh the white sauce laced with garlic was fantastic. I don't know exactly how many calories were in the pizza, but sometimes you just need to forget your diet and go and pig out! Right? Wrong....

Eating out is probably not the safest nor the easiest way to lose weight. First of all, most of the foods served in fast food joints are super unhealthy. Take french fries for instance. They sure taste so good, don't they. But due to the fact they are literally dripping with oil, the calories in french fries are sky high. And then there is the ubiquitous hamburger. The reason it tastes so good is that it too is very high in fat content.

When you eat a lot of fat, guess what? You get fat! No kidding. So if you are going to eat out, you have to carefully avoid most things on the menu and opt for things like salad. But even salads can be loaded with fat. The culprit is the salad dressing. If you look at the ingredients for salad dressing, almost invariably one of the first ingredients is some kind of oil or fat. So if you are serious about losing weight, you will take your salad like the honey moon couple used to say "let us alone with no dressing." Of course lettuce alone is rather bland, and you will immediately be tempted to pour on the dressing.

Another problem with eating out is salt. Salt is everywhere. French fries taste so good because they are covered with salt. Salad dressing has a whole lot of salt in it. In fact, salt is used so much in the things served in restaurants that once you become conscious of the salt, you probably will want to eat at home.

Eating at home makes it a LOT easier to lose weight.

Happy weight loss,
